Life Alert

Read the following - Please!
Medical Protection for Seniors - 24 hours/7 days a week

When elderly people live alone, a medical alarm can provide peace of mind for the user and their family. In the
event of a fall, sickness or other emergency, an elderly person can use a pendant button around their neck or
wrist to summon help.

But, remember this is a subscription, a contract, rent, When you call the 1-800 number, you will be asked for
contact information consisting of your name, address and phone number. The phone number part is important, because that is how you will be contacted. You will receive the booklet and later the call.

A representative of the company will call you. His/her job is to sell you a subscription (contract and rent). That is
how they make their living. The company's main business is selling a product. The representative is professional, polite and determined.

Are you good with Contract Law. I will suggest that you have a person present when you talk with the representative. Insist that you will talk only when your representative is present. Asked for a call back number or set a time for them to call you again. You must have somebody who can talk with a professional and determined salesperson.
Don't agree on any terms or procedures until you have help.

The contract will be determined by all the information the representative can get from you. There is no set upfront charge (yes, I said upfront charge because you will have the equipment in your possession.), set monthly rental, or
set duration (which may run into years). Sometimes there are shipping fees - receiving and sending the equipment. They want their equipment back after the contract ends.

Sometimes, Insurance can help. Call your health insurance company, medicare or SSI prior to talking with the Rep. Remember, once you agree to a contract, it is binding - you are stuck.  {:-)

If the representative attempts to stick you with an amount you cannot accept, tell him/her you will compare shop for other medical alerts - there are many on the market. This tactic will sometimes change the contract amount.
Remember, they are trying to make a sale. Good Luck and Good Health!

NOTE: If price and quality is your concern, check out Quik-Alert. They are honest with you. It is cheaper buying the equipment and paying a low service fee. Paying for rental and service can be high for many of us.
